Especially when you sacrifice a long warm up to save time, and rush through exercises. Right now I'm benched with what I hope is only a case of tendonitis in my left knee. My knee felt a little off after working out on Sunday, so I heatpadded it. Monday morning it wasn't bad, but walking on it throughout the day left me unable to put nearly any weight on it. Ouch. Today wasn't much better, but the Ship's Doc examined it for ligament damage (with all the twisting and pulling tests), and checked it for sensitivity. Nothing, so it would seem it's just a little inflamation, which is from tendonitis.
I am prone to getting tendonitis, especially when I do something for the first time in a while, and go too hard. Example, I have gotten it in my feet and ankles several times after running hard for the first time in several months. This time, I think the high stress nature of what I was doing, Clean to FSQ to MP (all quick and explosive), might have been too much for my ligaments, especially since I only did turkish getups and windmills before (no warmup to speak of).
So hopefully this will be ok in about 2 weeks (that's typically how long I take, give or take a week, to heal from the 'nitis). And . . . hopefully I've learned my lesson: Warmup thoroughly before hand, slow workup to the most intense exercises . . . and stop neglecting the Post-workout static stretch for increased flexibility (my flexibility is laughable, and this means I'm more injury prone . . . gotta fix this).
Well, till my next post, I'll be heat padding it and taking it easy . . . which means getting FAT, especially since Turkey day is 2 days away. damn it. . .
